Case Study: Harrison Thompson

As sustainability becomes a key requirement within the health and education sectors, Harrison Thompson set out to align every part of their operation with their carbon-neutral ambitions. Working with long-term partner AFP, they identified an opportunity to reduce their environmental impact through carbon-neutral managed print solutions, delivering measurable sustainability benefits without compromising performance or cost.

Background and Challenges

Harrison Thompson provides wall and door protection products for the healthcare and education sector as part of their Yeoman Shield brand, as well as premium rainwater systems for homes through their Yeoman Rainguard brand. Although their print and copier machines weren’t due for a refresh for another couple of years, their focus as a business on working towards carbon neutrality meant that their managed print solutions were an area for consideration.

Carbon neutrality is very high on the agenda for government funded projects within the health and education sectors, meaning Harrison Thompson was keen to demonstrate a reduction in their carbon footprint. Evidence of this was something their customers were actively seeking, making it a big part of business objectives.

Other initiatives were well underway such as building work insulation, LED lighting, air conditioning heating systems, changes to their vehicle fleet and sourcing materials from the UK rather than from overseas. But the opportunity to bring their print managed solutions in line with their wider environmental ethos was something they couldn’t overlook.

Solutions and Outcomes

AFP proposed the opportunity for carbon neutral managed print solutions, and it was quickly embraced. It provided new modern kit with the added value of carbon neutrality and no additional financial burden. A solution that came at just the right time, in line with their agenda and where they were headed as a business.

Having worked with AFP for 15 years on a number of print projects, they knew they would be in safe hands. Always a pleasure to work with, making everything simple and straightforward and always delivering everything they promised.

It was a simple way to reduce their carbon footprint as well as the costs associated with it. Providing financial benefits as well as new equipment for business continuity, and the evidence needed to demonstrate to customers that they were doing the right thing.

Client Quote

“The world has changed hugely in the last ten years, and environmental considerations when it comes to health and safety have quite rightly gathered momentum. Bringing in carbon neutral managed print solutions is a small thing but it’s nonetheless important, meeting our customer requirements and doing something good along the way.

With a service culture that’s so supportive, AFP are great company to work with, and we only wish that there were more out there like them.”
