Case Study: Lawcris Panel Products

Background and Challenges

Lawcris Panel Products is a timber merchant based in Leeds, working from 2 sites to deliver wood panels and decorative wood panels all across England, Scotland and Wales. Trading for 42 years, they began as a team of just two, delivering wood from a house in Wakefield. And it’s grown into a business of over 100 million in turnover, with over 260 staff and over 50 vehicles in the fleet.

Sustainability and an environmental approach is very high on the agenda for Lawcris, as a business that uses trees as its main source material. 4 years ago, it reviewed its Environmental Policy and its approach, achieving ISO 14001 in 2024. With 600 solar panels on the roof generating 60% of their electricity, and a wood recycling programme with one of their large manufacturers, they were already very active with their environmental policy.

Solutions and Outcomes

Lawcris had been working with AFP since 2022, and so when the opportunity arose for a carbon neutral managed print solution, it was something which fit perfectly with their wider business objectives. As a business which is still heavily paper-based, producing multiple delivery notes and vehicle manifests, the opportunity to offset the carbon from their printing was something of great interest.

AFP provide a professional service and pragmatic approach, always sorting things out quickly where needed. As a local business, AFP engineers always respond quickly to support on site if required and it’s a strong and trusted relationship which has been built over the last few years.

The carbon neutral managed print solution forms a vital part of the overall environmental responsibility of Lawcris. They receive multiple questionnaires from prospective customers about their approach to sustainability, and it acts as a strong part of their response. Providing them with the right credibility to be selected as a supplier and helping to take the business from strength to strength.

Client Quote

“Building a strong environmental policy and achieving ISO 14001 accreditation has been a critical part of ensuring future business success at Lawcris. It’s of huge importance to our stakeholders and our customers that we demonstrate an active environmental policy, and the carbon neutral managed print solution from AFP has been an integral part of that.

The service from Andrew Bennell and his team at AFP has been outstanding, and long may the relationship continue.”
